There are hundreds of plugins and services which can provide statistics about your visitors. However I found that even though something like Google Analytics provides an incredible depth of information, it can be overwhelming and doesn’t really highlight what’s most interesting to me as a writer. That’s why Automattic created its own stats system, to focus on just the most popular metrics a blogger wants to track and provide them in a clear and concise interface.

Installing this stats plugin is much like installing Akismet, all you need is to put in your API Key and the rest is automatic.

Once it’s running it’ll begin collecting information about your pageviews, which posts and pages are the most popular, where your traffic is coming from, and what people click on when they leave. It’ll also add a link to your dashboard which allows you to see all your stats on a single page. Less is more.

Finally, because all of the processing and collection runs on our servers and not yours, it doesn’t cause any additional load on your hosting account. In fact, it’s one of the fastest stats system, hosted or not hosted, that you can use.

We have added a new plugin to ZBlogs to spruce up your theme of choice with. It adds a snowing effect to your ZBlog pages. Simply go into your admin panel, go to plugins, then activate  “wp-effects”, then go to the settings page for it and add in your snow.(dont add more than 20 or itll slow down your pages).

   When winter is over you can use it to add leaves, or you can create your own small images and use any custom image you want falling across and down your ZBlog pages.

 Right now you can choose snow, presents or leaves or use your own custom image.

Now you can have those kewl little avatars show up on your posts, feeds, friends widgets and everywhere on all zblogs utilizing any tool that has avatars just like they are on Twitter, Facebook and everywhere else.(a good example is look at the ZBlogs listing to the left, you can have your own custom avatar there instead of the generic G)

 Plus with the new intergration you dont have to join gravatar or some other outside source, you simply browse and upload your new avatar. You can even upload a large image, then use the built in tools to crop just the part of the image you want to use as your avatar.

  Its located in your admin panel, then settings, then look at the bottom for “blog avatar”.

Now you can choose when you first setup your new ZBlog if you want to use EasyBlogging or Standard. Easy blogging is great for those with first time use of wordpress, while standard blogging gives you all features.

As many of you have noticed and by the hundred plus emails that ive recieved, there are some issues going on with ZBlogs right now.

  We have currently deactivated 90% of all plugins and will be adding them back one at a time.

 This means there will be some blank pages for a while off and on, but as long as you dont delete anything they will all return once were done.

 Due to some security issues, plugin issues and upgrade problems this is a necessary evil we must deal with.

  If you get completely frusterated and just dont want to deal with it any more instead of trying to delete everything yourself, simply send an email to support@freezblogs.com and we will delete everything for you.

  We will have everything back up and running as quickly as possible, so if possible please bear with me as its a lot of work to get it all going and it costs me a great deal to keep it all running as well.

Due to all the recent updates, addons and plugins, there were unfortunately a few plugins that are no longer supported by the original authors and thus did not get updated. These are causeing some conflicts with certain themes.

 At this time we are going to be going thru and deactivating and reactivating all plugins and themes over the next 48 hours.

We as that no one please make any changes to your plugins, widgets or sidebar items at this time. You can still make posts and pages..just no plugin, sidebar or widget changes.

 These updates and test will make some plugins and widgets unusable at times, but they will all be back to original state once were done.

   Please try to refrain from making changes till we repost that all updates and changes have been completed.

   Youll also notice there is no longer a tab for plugins, and there is no plugins tab under manage anymore either. From now on all plugins that are available with be accessible from either the “Settings” or “Tools” tab over on the left side in your admin panel. Some of the larger plugins actually get their own section on the left side of your admin panel, like statpress, contact form, askimet, gravitar, email newsletters and a few others that we will be adding over time.

 Feel free to play around with the new tools, and if you want to change your current “www.ursite.zazzleblogs.com to one of the newer shorter domains you will need to setup a new domain, then export your current domain and then import it to the new domain you chose.  Both of these options can be done in the “Tools” menu on the left side in your admin panel.

   We know there will be lots of questions, and we are still doing a lot of work and upgreades on the backend as well as adding more plugins. Because of this we do have one major request…….”Please try not  to email us directly over the next several days- There is a new support forum topic created just for these changes for everyone to use, and I will check it quite often, so try to make that the first source for help. If you insist on emailing, I will get to them as I can, but my email is really backed up right now with all these changes and also putting ZBlogs in its own server now.
